Rumours surrounding MobLand have exploded after reports claimed Tom Hardy was removed from the Paramount+ crime drama following alleged tensions with cast members and producers behind the scenes.
According to a report published by the Daily Mail and later amplified by several entertainment outlets, Hardy allegedly clashed with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser during production on the hit series. The report also claimed that veteran actor Helen Mirren became increasingly frustrated with Hardy’s behaviour while filming the first two seasons of the show.
Neither Hardy nor Mirren has publicly addressed the allegations. Representatives for both actors were reportedly contacted for comment by the Irish Star.
Hardy plays Harry Da Souza in MobLand, a fixer working for the powerful Harrigan crime family. The series quickly became one of Paramount+’s most talked about dramas thanks to its high profile cast, which includes Mirren and Pierce Brosnan. Reports claiming Hardy would not return for a third season immediately triggered intense discussion online because his character has been positioned as one of the central figures of the story.
The claims remain unverified beyond unnamed insider sources. However, the reports alleged that Mirren was unhappy with Hardy’s punctuality and on set attitude. One source reportedly claimed that Hardy sometimes arrived late to filming and attempted to alter dialogue during production. Another allegation suggested that Mirren disliked what was described as his “swaggering” behaviour on set.
Mirren, who has built a reputation over decades for professionalism across film, television and theatre, was described in the report as expecting a high standard from collaborators. The allegations also claimed crew members had noticed growing tension during filming.
Hardy has long carried a reputation as an intense performer deeply invested in his projects. Across films such as Mad Max: Fury Road, The Revenant and Bronson, directors and co stars have often described him as unpredictable but fiercely committed to his work. In previous interviews, Hardy himself has openly admitted he can become obsessive about performances and storytelling choices.
At the same time, MobLand has emerged as a major success for Paramount+, drawing attention for its gritty crime narrative and heavyweight cast. Fans online reacted with surprise to the reports because much of the show’s appeal has centred around the dynamic between Hardy, Mirren and Brosnan.
Social media reaction was swift after headlines about the alleged fallout spread online. Some viewers defended Hardy’s reputation as a passionate creative figure, while others questioned whether unnamed source reports should be treated as fact without confirmation from the actors or studio.
The reports also suggested Hardy had become frustrated with the creative direction of the series, allegedly believing the story was shifting focus toward Mirren and Brosnan’s characters. No official statement from Paramount+ has confirmed any casting changes connected to a third season.
