Taylor Swift will reportedly not attend the 2026 American Music Awards despite being one of the night’s most nominated artists.
According to E! News, the singer is expected to skip the awards ceremony scheduled to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 25. The event will be hosted by Queen Latifah and feature several major music industry nominees and performances.
Swift enters the ceremony with eight nominations tied to her 2025 album, The Life of a Showgirl. The project earned nominations including Artist of the Year, Best Female Pop Artist, Album of the Year and Best Pop Album.
Her single “Fate of Ophelia” also received nominations for Song of the Year, Best Pop Song and Best Music Video, while “Elizabeth Taylor” is competing in the Song of the Summer category.
The singer already holds the record as the most awarded artist in American Music Awards history, with 40 previous wins. If Swift secures victories in all eight categories, she would tie Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston for the most wins earned in a single night at the ceremony.
Outside of music, Swift has continued to attract attention for her personal life, particularly her engagement to Travis Kelce. Reports surrounding the couple’s wedding planning have circulated in recent months, though neither has publicly confirmed additional details.
The 2026 AMAs are expected to draw major global viewership as fans wait to see which artists dominate this year’s awards ceremony.
