Disputes over livestock claimed six lives in two separate incidents in the tribal culture dominated Kashmore-Kandhkot district on Friday. A man, his wife and brother were shot dead in an armed assault on their home in village Eidu Bhangwar, Bakshapur.
According to the police, the slain persons were identified as Mehar Ali Bhangwar, his wife Aalima and brother Ghulam Fareed. Their bodies were shifted to taluka hospital. The police informed, quoting family sources, that armed men of Bhangwar caste attacked Mehar's home in revenge for the alleged killing of Ali Jan Bhangwar a year ago following argument over livestock animals.
District SSP, Muhammad Murad Ghangro, sent police contingents in armoured personnel vehicles to round up the assailants who had escaped from the village after padlocking their homes. The bereaved family themselves shifted dead bodies to the police station to get letters for postmortem before taking the bodies to the hospital.
In another incident in the same district, an exchange of fire reportedly occurred between men belonging to Shar and Kosh castes, which have remained locked in a bloody vendetta for around five years with 10 killings so far. Bhuro Shar and his brother Maroof Shar besides Noor Muhammad Kosh alias Nuro lost their lives in the armed clash that took place in the limits of Haji Khan Shar police station on Friday.
