ISLAMABAD:

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is reportedly considering a return to parliamentary standing committees as part of a broader internal reassessment of its legislative strategy, party sources said on Thursday.

The sources said the PTI parliamentary party has submitted a key resolution for immediate implementation, which has now been presented before party lawmakers for consideration and approval.

The resolution is said to enjoy support from a majority of parliamentarians. The proposed policy framework identifies the release of party founder Imran Khan and other political prisoners as the party's central priority.

It also includes demands related to the incarcerated leader's health, security and access to his personal physician.

According to sources, the resolution also outlines plans for the party to raise its voice more forcefully in parliament, courts and public forums on key political and governance issues.

It further stresses the need to highlight issues such as inflation, unemployment and broader human rights concerns. The document also advises pursuing legal and constitutional measures against the trial of civilians in military courts.

The sources said the resolution includes a decision to conduct monthly reviews of parliamentary performance.

It also calls for strengthening media talks, press conferences and public outreach campaigns to make them more effective.

Under the proposed framework, floor strategy, walkouts and voting decisions will be carried out strictly in line with directives from the party leadership. PTI members of parliament have been instructed to strictly follow party discipline.

According to the resolution, any deviation from party policy will result in disciplinary action.

The sources further said that once approved, the resolution will be implemented immediately.
