Euphoria star Nika King has responded after her screen time in the show’s season 3 premiere was significantly reduced, leaving her with only a brief appearance alongside Zendaya.
In the latest episode of the HBO teen drama, Rue (Zendaya) receives a phone call from her mother, Leslie (Nika King), during a moment reflecting on her ongoing struggles. While earlier scenes reportedly included a longer exchange between the two characters, the final cut showed only a short on-screen moment, with Leslie briefly telling Rue she loves her before the focus returns to Rue.
Following the episode’s release, Nika King addressed the edit on Instagram, revealing that she had filmed more dialogue that was ultimately cut from the final version. She joked that her mother found the situation amusing, noting that the internet had been “waiting all this time” only for her to deliver a single line on screen.

King’s comments highlighted the lighter side of the situation, as she acknowledged the reaction while maintaining a humorous tone about the reduced role.
Her appearance marks her first return to Euphoria since season 2 aired in 2022. The HBO series, which follows Rue’s journey through addiction and recovery, has faced multiple production delays in recent years due to industry strikes, scheduling conflicts, and other behind-the-scenes challenges.
I knew Nika as a comic first.
She was always at The Comedy Union.
She is so underrated and i really feel like she will have an award-winning career for her depth and her duality.
Think Marlon Wayans.
Nika King is gonna be around for a long time. https://t.co/FbAVbhYay7— Ta-Nehisi P. Henson (@BlkLikeVanilla) May 19, 2026

HBO has not commented on the final editing decisions for the episode.
