The launch of the Audemars Piguet x Swatch Royal Pop on May 16 has drawn global attention after queues formed outside boutiques and crowd control measures were introduced in several cities.

The collaboration between Swatch and Audemars Piguet introduces a reinterpretation of the iconic Royal Oak design, reimagined as a strap-free pocket watch concept. The model can be worn on a calfskin lanyard, carried in a pocket, or placed in a desk stand, marking a shift from traditional wristwear formats.

The collection is available in multiple colourways across Lepine and Savonette styles, with variations such as “Green Eight”, “Huit Blanc”, “Ocho Negro” and “Lan Ba”, each combining contrasting case, dial and bezel tones.

Initial demand led to high footfall at retail locations in markets. Reports from launch day noted that in some locations, scheduled events were cancelled due to overcrowding.

The Royal Pop continues Swatch’s long history of high-profile collaborations, following previous releases with Omega and Blancpain that also generated significant global demand and rapid sell-outs.
