Man arrested in daughter's murder case
Police claimed to have solved a blind murder case after three years of investigation into the alleged kidnapping and killing of an 18-year-old girl.
The victim identified by the initial "K" was initially reported missing in a kidnapping case but later found to have been murdered.
Her father has been arrested and sent to judicial custody as the prime suspect.
DSP Saddar Circle Jamshed Akram said the girl wanted to marry a local youth, identified as Iftikhar, of her own free will, but her family strongly opposed the relationship.
Police said the situation led to tensions within the household, while the father, Irshad, allegedly feared that she might elope. Investigators stated that the suspect allegedly took his daughter on a motorcycle under the pretext of visiting her grandmother.
Near a canal, he is said to have pushed her into the water, resulting in her death.
Police further said the suspect later approached authorities and registered a kidnapping case to mislead investigators.
A special investigation team later reopened the case and traced the suspect using human intelligence and technical evidence.
Police confirmed that the father was found responsible for the murder following completion of the investigation.
