A suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting of Missouri Tigers running back Ahmad Hardy, nearly a week after the standout football player was injured at a concert in Mississippi.

According to People, 20-year-old Rashodrick Harris was taken into custody in Paducah, Kentucky, on May 14 after authorities identified him using surveillance footage and witness interviews. He is expected to face two counts of aggravated assault and is awaiting extradition to Mississippi.

Hardy, 20, was shot in the upper leg while attending an outdoor concert at a bike club in Laurel, Mississippi, on May 10. Another person was also injured in the incident. Police previously detained three other individuals, but they were later released without charges as the investigation continued.

The star running back underwent surgery shortly after the shooting and was released from the hospital earlier this week. He has since returned to Columbia, Missouri, where he is continuing his recovery.

Missouri Athletics said in a statement that Hardy is “deeply loved by his teammates, coaches, friends, family and fans,” adding that the program will continue to support him throughout his recovery.

Hardy emerged as one of college football’s top running backs during the 2025 season. After transferring from the University of Louisiana-Monroe, he rushed for 1,649 yards and 16 touchdowns, earning All-American honors and becoming a finalist for the Doak Walker Award.

Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz has said it is too early to determine whether Hardy will be ready to return for the upcoming season. Authorities have indicated the investigation remains active and additional arrests are possible.
