Did ‘The Boys’ just reveal Soldier Boy’s ending before the finale?

The Boys fans are convinced Showrunner Eric Kripke may have accidentally spoiled Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy fate just days before the series finale airs.
Following the explosive penultimate episode, viewers believed Soldier Boy could still play a major role in the ending after Homelander placed him back into stasis. Many theories suggested The Boys might eventually wake him up for one final battle. But Kripke’s latest interview with Collider appears to shut that possibility down entirely.
While speaking about a hidden Supernatural reference in Soldier Boy’s final scene, Kripke seemingly confirmed the moment marked the character’s last appearance in the series.
“Knowing that that was going to be Jensen’s last scene in the series, we wanted to put in one last reference,” Kripke explained while discussing Soldier Boy mentioning an “old Impala”, a nod to the iconic car from Supernatural.
The comment instantly sparked concern online, with fans questioning whether Kripke accidentally revealed that Soldier Boy will not return for the finale at all.
The reveal comes after Episode 7 delivered one of the darkest turns in the show’s history. Homelander murdered the President of the United States, dissolved The Seven, and fully embraced his increasingly dangerous “god” complex. Soldier Boy rejected Homelander’s plans moments before being overpowered and frozen once again.
Because the character remained alive, many viewers assumed he would eventually escape or be rescued before the series ended. Kripke’s remarks now suggest otherwise, unless the showrunner is intentionally misleading fans ahead of the finale.
Social media reactions quickly exploded, with some fans disappointed that Soldier Boy may not get a proper final showdown, while others believe Kripke could still be hiding a surprise post-credits appearance.
Kripke has also admitted he feels “terror” about crafting the show’s ending, explaining that great finales are rare and can define how audiences remember an entire series.
Whether Soldier Boy truly stays frozen or returns for one final twist, The Boys finale is now carrying even higher expectations from fans desperate for a satisfying ending.
