On the album’s opening track Make Them Cry, Drake referenced his father’s health struggles, revealing that Dennis had previously been diagnosed with cancer. Following the album’s release, Dennis Graham addressed the situation directly while speaking to TMZ in West Hollywood. He confirmed that the illness was in the past and said he is currently in good health.

“No, that was a while back. I’m okay now. I’m wonderful,” Graham said. He added that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer at the time but later received confirmation that it had disappeared after treatment. He also noted that while he still smokes occasionally, he has significantly cut down.
