Police widen probe against 'Pinky'
Police have constituted special teams to transfer alleged drug trafficker Anmol alias Pinky from Karachi to Lahore after fresh criminal records and case links surfaced during an internal audit ordered by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Investigations Lahore Syed Zeeshan Raza.
Police sources said the decision was taken after DIG Investigations directed SP CRO to conduct a detailed audit of the suspect's criminal history, which reportedly uncovered multiple narcotics-related cases involving her and her alleged associates across different police stations.
Police said legal formalities are being completed to obtain court permission for her transfer from Sindh to Punjab for further interrogation.
The move follows reports of an alleged inter-provincial narcotics network that recently surfaced during investigations and on social media platforms.
The audit revealed that two separate narcotics cases had earlier been registered against the suspect's brothers, Nasir and Riaz, at Iqbal Town and Kot Lakhpat police stations in 2020 and 2022 under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act.
Investigators said Anmol alias Pinky was also nominated in both cases, while challan reports had already been submitted to the courts.
Officials added that trial proceedings against her brothers had concluded, but the alleged female suspect remained at large in both cases.
Police sources further said departmental action has been initiated against the investigating officers concerned for failing to arrest her despite her nomination in the cases.
The development comes after her reported arrest in Karachi in a joint operation by police and a sensitive agency over allegations of operating a high-end cocaine supply network. Investigators believe the alleged network may have links extending to Lahore and other major cities.
Sources familiar with the inquiry said investigators are now examining additional leads involving alleged facilitators, gang members and financial channels linked to the narcotics trade.
