DPM Dar chairs meeting on tax policy proposals for forthcoming budget

Says committee reviewed progress on various proposals, emphasised the need for growth-oriented measures

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday chaired a follow-up meeting of the committee constituted by the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to continue deliberations on tax policy proposals for the forthcoming budget.

According to a post on X, DPM Dar said, "The committee reviewed progress on various proposals and emphasised the need for balanced, growth-oriented measures aimed at broadening the tax base, enhancing revenue generation, and promoting investment and economic growth".

The minister further added that the committee reiterated its priority for balanced and growth-oriented measures that enhance revenue generation while safeguarding compliant taxpayers from any additional tax burden.

"The meeting was attended by the minister for the economic affairs division, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, minister of state for finance and railways, finance secretary, chairman of the FBR, and senior officials from relevant ministries," the statement added.
