Pocketpair has filed a trademark for “Palworld Online”, leading to speculation among fans that the survival adventure game could be expanding its multiplayer features or moving towards an MMO-style experience.

The trademark was reportedly filed in South Korea on April 24 and in the United States on April 27. Alongside the filing, a logo for “Palworld Online” was also submitted, prompting discussion about what the new branding could mean for the franchise.

Palworld launched in early access and gained attention for its open-world gameplay, creature collection mechanics and multiplayer features. Players can currently explore the game with up to four people in a personal save file or with as many as 32 players through dedicated servers.

While Pocketpair has not confirmed the purpose of the trademark, some fans believe it could signal a major multiplayer expansion ahead of the game’s full release later this year.

Others have suggested it may relate to the announced mobile version, Palworld Mobile, which is being developed with Krafton.

The existing multiplayer systems have already allowed players to cooperate in exploration and creature collection, but the new trademark has led to speculation about larger-scale online gameplay.

“This sounds more like an MMO title where the current game is like a single player game you can play online,” one fan commented following news of the filing.

Another fan wrote, “imagine an MMO with full progression systems for gathering and crafting, instanced pal raids and dungeons, leveling and builds for your PALs….something Pokemon has never considered.”

Pocketpair has not provided additional details about the trademark or confirmed whether “Palworld Online” will be a standalone title, an update to the current game or connected to the mobile release.
