Marvel Rivals season 8 adds Cyclops releasing May 15

NetEase Games has unveiled new details for Marvel Rivals Season 8: Sins of Alchemax, including the arrival of Cyclops, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur in the free-to-play multiplayer title.

Season 8 launches on May 15 and centres on the Alchemax corporation, which was linked to the recent Time Plague outbreak in Lower Manhattan.

Although the outbreak was contained, the company remains active, leading players to join forces against the organisation in the upcoming season.

A newly released trailer showcased Cyclops in action and also teased the arrival of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. Moon Girl, also known as Lunella Lafayette, is recognised in Marvel lore as one of the universe’s smartest characters and shares a mental connection with Devil Dinosaur.

According to NetEase Games, Devil Dinosaur will join Marvel Rivals as a Vanguard-class character focused on aggressive combat abilities. The character can use powerful melee attacks, defensive shielding and bleeding effects against opponents.

The dinosaur’s abilities also increase in strength as combat continues, while its Ultimate Ability allows it to charge through enemies.

Season 8 will also introduce a new Doom Match map called Alchemax Headquarters. The map will task teams with storming the facility to rescue Cyclops and Moon Girl.

On PC, NetEase Games said it is also changing how the High-Resolution Texture Pack is distributed. The texture pack will become standalone downloadable content, allowing players to uninstall it separately and potentially save around 35GB of storage space.
