Balochistan to modernise B-TEVTA

Bugti directs reforms in vocational training sector

QUETTA:

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has announced sweeping reforms to modernise the Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (B-TEVTA), stressing that technical education and skills development would be prioritised to empower youth and improve employment opportunities at both national and international levels.

Chairing the 10th board meeting of B-TEVTA, the chief minister said it was not possible to provide government jobs to every young person in the province, making vocational training and technical education critical for promoting self-reliance among youth.

He said the provincial government aimed to equip young people with market-oriented and internationally competitive skills to help them secure better employment opportunities.

The meeting was attended by Adviser for Labour and Manpower Sardar Ghulam Rasool Umrani, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, and senior officials from relevant departments.

Participants reviewed and approved key agenda items relating to institutional reforms, performance improvement, financial discipline and annual financial matters.

During the meeting, Bugti directed authorities to take extraordinary measures to make the technical education authority more active, effective and aligned with modern requirements.

He stressed the need to introduce advanced technology and fully market-based training programmes to empower youth across the province.

The chief minister said ongoing programmes should be modernised to ensure that young people receive technical training alongside improved employment opportunities in various sectors.

He also decided to formulate a comprehensive and practical strategy, in consultation with experts, for the promotion of technical education and vocational skills in Balochistan.

Bugti said institutional reforms would be implemented to restructure technical training institutions along modern lines, adding that providing youth with globally competitive skills and aligning them with international market demands had become unavoidable.
