Billie Eilish is facing criticism online after fans discovered that her new concert film, Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D), is screening in Israel despite the singer’s previous public support for Palestine.
The 3D concert film was released on May 8, 2026 and documents Eilish’s four-night Manchester residency.
The project is co-directed by Eilish and filmmaker James Cameron and distributed internationally by Paramount Pictures across 56 markets, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia and Mexico.
The controversy emerged after social media users claimed screenings in Israel contradicted Eilish’s political statements regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Fans notice Billie Eilish’s documentary is being quietly screened in Israel.
It is worth noting that other artists received significant backlash for the same. pic.twitter.com/RVbLPlEDbmFans on Instagram and X accused the singer of being “performative” and questioned whether her actions aligned with her public messaging.
The singer has expressed support for Palestine on multiple occasions, including advocating for a ceasefire and promoting a "Together For Palestine" benefit concert last year. She has also criticised public figures for remaining silent on humanitarian and political issues.
Criticism also resurfaced around Eilish’s previous comments on wealth inequality and veganism. During award appearances and public speeches, the singer criticised billionaires and urged wealthy individuals to redistribute money.
Recently, she also came under fire for saying in an interview that “eating meat is inherently wrong” and that people who eat meat cannot truly claim to love animals. As the debate spread across social media, Eilish responded with a fiery message aimed at her critics, telling them to "stay f**king mad".
The new project marks her third major concert film following Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles and Billie Eilish: Live at the O2.
Eilish has not publicly responded to the criticism surrounding the screenings or the broader accusations from fans regarding inconsistencies between her activism and commercial partnerships.
