Today, Pakistan marked a historic milestone in the sporting landscape as the nation hosted its first ever open water Olympic Triathlon, the Activit Margalla Triathlon 2026.

Held at the scenic Gulberg Greens Lake Front, the event brought together hundreds of athletes and fitness enthusiasts for a gruelling yet exhilarating test of endurance, featuring swimming, cycling and running.

The event, organised by Margalla Trail Runners (MTR) and powered by Activit, transformed Islamabad into a hub of high-performance athletics and community spirit. The triathlon saw diverse attendance, with participants of all ages and both male and female athletes competing across all categories, showcasing the growing passion for multisport disciplines in Pakistan.

The competition saw exceptional performances from top-tier athletes across multiple distances. In the Olympic Solo category, Evgenii Yusyuk claimed the top spot, while Shahrez Khan led the Sprint-Solo Male category and Saltanat Simbina secured first place in the Sprint Solo Female. The 5km Fun Run also celebrated high energy and participation, with Idrees Sheen leading the male category and Enub Khan finishing first in the female category.

The atmosphere at the Gulberg Greens Lake Front was electric, as hundreds of participants were cheered on by crowds of friends and families.

More than just a competition, the triathlon served as a vibrant festival promoting an active, healthy lifestyle and the spirit of endurance sports.

In a poignant tribute, the first ever open water Olympic Triathlon in Pakistan was dedicated to the bravery of Pakistan's soldiers, honouring those who raised the national flag to new heights last year during Marka-e-Haq. The resilience shown by the athletes on the course mirrored the spirit of national excellence.
