K-P issues alert after rain forecast
Special Assistant to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, in his statement regarding precautionary preparations in view of the expected rains in the province, said that heavy rains, strong winds, and possible risks of glacial lake outburst floods have been forecast in the upper areas of the province.
He said that in view of the potential risks, the district administration and all relevant departments have been directed to remain on high alert, ensure continuous monitoring of sensitive glacial sites, and keep early warning systems fully operational.
Shafi Jan stated that all relevant provincial government departments are fully prepared and alert to deal with any emergency situation, while the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) is continuously monitoring the evolving situation.
He urged the public, especially tourists, to adopt precautionary measures and said that in case of any emergency, citizens can immediately contact the PDMA helpline at 1700.
The Special Assistant further said that the provincial government is making every effort to safeguard the lives and property of the people and is utilizing all available resources in this regard.
