The Boys delivered one of its most brutal late-series twists in season 5, episode 6, when Black Noir was killed off by none other than The Deep.
The shocking death came after tensions between the two Supes had been building for several episodes. Their rivalry escalated after The Deep publicly backed an oil pipeline that later exploded, killing billions of sea creatures. For a character whose identity has always been tied to the ocean, the disaster was both humiliating and devastating.
When Black Noir revealed that he had secretly punched a hole in the pipeline as revenge for Adam Bourke’s death, it pushed The Deep over the edge. In one of the episode’s most violent scenes, he turned Noir’s own knife against him and stabbed him to death inside their recording studio.
Speaking about the scene with ScreenRant , actor Chace Crawford said the finality of the moment hit hardest when he saw co-star Nathan Mitchell suit up for what felt like their last major scene together.
“Watching Nathan put on the suit was the moment where it felt real.”
Crawford explained that once filming began, the focus shifted to making the confrontation feel grounded and believable. He also credited stunt coordinator John Koyama for shaping the sequence into something physical, tight, and emotionally loaded.
“It was great to stab him with his own knife, and then you see the blood pool out.”
What made the death land harder was the strange bond the characters had built since season 4. This newer version of Black Noir had initially found unexpected friendship with The Deep, only for that connection to slowly rot under ego, resentment, and betrayal.
Crawford admitted the emotional weight of that fallout stayed with him, especially when delivering one of the scene’s most cutting lines.
“You’re not my bro. You were never my bro.”
With only two episodes left in the series, Black Noir’s death could have major consequences for the future of the Seven. The Deep has now lost the only teammate who genuinely treated him like a friend, leaving him increasingly isolated beside Homelander.
And with Homelander now even more powerful after being injected with V-One, The Deep may have done more than kill a rival, he may have sealed his own fate.
