Jake Shane left Kacey Musgraves and her fans amused after asking her to explain a lyric from her beloved song Slow Burn during an episode of his podcast Therapuss.

During Musgraves’ appearance on the show, Shane asked about the lyric from her song Slow Burn, "Sun’s going down, but in Beijing, they’re headed out to work".

The lyric references people living in different parts of the world and operating on different schedules and Musgraves explained that it is not a "deep coded" thing and it means what it says.

The lyric comes from the second verse of the song, featured on Musgraves’ Grammy-winning 2018 album Golden Hour. The track is widely praised for its reflective message about taking life at your own pace rather than rushing toward a destination.

The exchange sparked a wave of reactions online, with many fans joking that the lyric is one of Musgraves’ most straightforward and literal lines.

This didn't sit well with fans and one criticised Shane's line of questioning. "We need to end influencer interviews in lieu of actual journalism because what do you mean Kacey Musgraves had to explain how time zones work to Jake Shane?”

Another fan questioned how Shane even has a job without an "ounce of media literacy".
