Snoop Dogg and Japanese singer Ado have officially joined the cast of Stranger Than Heaven, the upcoming game from Sega’s RGG Studio, the team behind the Yakuza and Like a Dragon franchises.

The new details were revealed during the Xbox Presents showcase, where Snoop Dogg confirmed he will portray Orpheus, an international smuggler connected to protagonist Makoto Daito’s journey across Japan.

According to the showcase, the story follows Makoto, a boy born in 1915 San Francisco to an American father and Japanese mother.

After losing both parents and facing discrimination in the United States because of his Asian heritage, Makoto flees to Japan and begins a decades-long journey.

During the presentation, Snoop Dogg described his character by saying, “I play Orpheus, an international smuggler who only has one rule. Taking what’s meant to be, where it’s meant to be. If you want it, I can get it for you.”

Cordell Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s son, also appears in the game as a character called The Veiled Stranger. While few details about the role were revealed, Broadus described Orpheus as “a one-stop shop for any and all contraband that his underworld connections may require.”

The showcase also revealed that Makoto and another character, Yu, secretly board Orpheus’ ship before becoming stranded in the Pacific Ocean. Orpheus later takes an interest in the pair and brings Makoto onboard as his “sidekick” and “wingman”.

Ado will also appear in Stranger Than Heaven as singer Keiko Shirai, a performer working within Japan’s growing entertainment industry. In addition to her in-game role, Ado joins Snoop Dogg on the game’s theme song, Stranger Than Heaven.

Stranger Than Heaven is scheduled to launch this winter on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
