HBO renews 'Harry Potter' for season 2, 'Chamber of Secrets' set to begin filming in fall
The first season, based on 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone', is set to debut during the 2026 holiday season

HBO has officially renewed its upcoming Harry Potter television series for a second season before the first installment has even premiered, signaling major confidence in the ambitious Wizarding World reboot.
Season 2 will adapt Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and is scheduled to begin filming later this fall.
The first season, based on Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is set to debut during the 2026 holiday season on HBO and HBO Max. The series is planned as a long-form adaptation of J K Rowling’s books, with one season expected to cover each novel in the franchise.
Alongside the early renewal, writer and producer Jon Brown has reportedly been promoted to co-showrunner for the second season, joining Francesca Gardiner as HBO expands development on the large-scale fantasy drama.
The reboot stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The adult cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Hagrid, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.
