Zelda Ocarina Of Time Remake leak suggests rebuild at Final Fantasy 7 Remake scale
Reports surrounding a potential The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake have intensified following new alleged leak details suggesting the project may be a full reimagining rather than a simple remaster, with comparisons being drawn to the scale of Final Fantasy VII Remake.
The information, attributed to leaker Nash Weedle during a podcast appearance, claims the title has been in development since 2022 and is reportedly being rebuilt from scratch for the Nintendo Switch 2.
It is also suggested that Monolith Soft may be involved in development, although this has not been officially confirmed.
Earlier reporting from another industry source, NateTheHate, previously indicated the project exists and is intended as a full remake rather than a visual update.
The newer claims expand on that, suggesting the scale of the project could be significantly larger than expected, potentially aligning with the multi-part structure used in Final Fantasy VII Remake.
According to the same leak discussion, there is speculation that the game could be divided into two releases.
The first part would reportedly focus on Link’s childhood timeline, with a possible 2026 release window, while a second part could follow later and cover the adult portion of the story. However, this split-release idea has been described as speculation rather than confirmed information.
The remake is also said to be planned for announcement during an upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation, with a potential release toward the end of 2026. However, no official confirmation has been provided by Nintendo regarding development, structure, or release timing.
