KARACHI:

Three armed robbers looted over five tolas of gold worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from a jewellery shop in Gulshan-e-Hadeed Phase I, within the Steel Town area of District Malir, and fled after injuring the shopkeeper.

According to police, the suspects entered the shop near Bata Mor on Wednesday afternoon and held the shopkeeper at gunpoint. When he resisted, the robbers struck him with a weapon butt, leaving him injured.

CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing that moments before the robbery, a woman and a man had entered the shop as customers. As the robbers arrived, the woman exited the shop, while the man accompanying her was also allowed to leave without resistance, raising suspicions of possible involvement.

The footage showed three armed men entering the shop one after another, overpowering the shopkeeper and looting gold chains from the counter before fleeing the scene.

Station House Officer (SHO) Gulzar Tanio said the robbers escaped with around five and a half tolas of gold.
