Beyoncé’s appearance at the 2026 Met Gala has prompted widespread discussion after fans identified a visual reference to a 2003 outfit, leading to renewed speculation about her upcoming Act III album.
The singer, known for her recent project Cowboy Carter, wore a crystal skeleton dress designed by Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing.
In an interview with Vogue, Beyoncé described the outfit as a tribute to body diversity, stating, “Juicy, curvy, thin, [just] celebrating whatever God gave you.”
Online discussion intensified after fans compared the Met Gala look to a nude mesh dress with crystal ribcage detailing that Beyoncé wore during a 2003 Nelson Mandela AIDS awareness concert.
A fan account shared a side-by-side comparison, writing, "The dress Beyoncé is wearing at the 2026 Met Gala strongly reminds me of the one she wore during the Dangerously In Love Tour."
The comparison has led to multiple interpretations among fans. Some suggested the reference could indicate a return to Beyoncé’s earlier R&B style, while others speculated it might signal a broader thematic connection to her debut era.
One user wrote, "Maybe this means [Act III] is her last ever album since she paid homage to her debut album."
Additional theories have focused on the symbolic use of skeletal imagery. Some fans linked the design to themes often associated with rock music, suggesting that Act III could explore that genre.
Beyoncé has previously incorporated rock elements in her music, including her collaboration with Jack White on “Don't Hurt Yourself.”
Despite speculation, no official details about Act III have been confirmed. Beyoncé’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, addressed rumours about the album’s completion, stating on April 27, "This is unequivocally false!!"
Beyoncé also noted the personal significance of attending the event, “It feels surreal, because my daughter is here,” adding, “I am excited to experience it through her eyes.”
