Blue Ivy’s Met Gala moment with dad Jay-Z goes viral during red carpet exchange

Blue Ivy drew attention on the Met Gala red carpet after a brief exchange with her father, Jay-Z, during which she appeared to quietly assert her own styling choice.

The 14-year-old attended the 2026 Met Gala alongside her parents, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, making a notable appearance in a white Balenciaga gown.

During the red carpet, photographers and event staff were seen encouraging her to remove her dark oval sunglasses while posing for pictures.

A fan-recorded video shared on X showed Blue Ivy continuing to pose with her sunglasses on despite the requests. Jay-Z later approached and also gestured for her to take them off. However, she appeared to indicate that she planned to remove them later, gesturing towards the steps. She ultimately took off the sunglasses after reaching the top, following her own timing.
