Olivia Wilde has responded to online commentary about her appearance after an interview clip from April circulated widely on social media.
The actress addressed comparisons made by some users, including references to a “corpse” and fictional characters, with a light-hearted response shared on Instagram.
On May 3, Wilde posted a video featuring her reaction to the remarks, filmed with her brother. In the clip, she appeared to joke about the situation while acknowledging the visual distortion caused by the camera.
“That’s not the truth. Do you have any more questions?” she said, before adding, “I’m not… I’m not dead,” as she laughed during the exchange.
The comments followed her appearance at the San Francisco International Film Festival on April 24, where she was promoting her film The Invite. During a red carpet interview, some viewers noted her appearance and shared side-by-side comparisons online, leading to a range of reactions.
While some social media users speculated about possible reasons for her appearance, including references to weight loss medication, others offered alternative explanations.
Several commenters attributed the look to camera angles, lighting, or natural ageing, while some defended the actress against criticism.
Wilde has previously spoken about public scrutiny, noting in a 2021 interview that external opinions have less impact when she focuses on personal wellbeing.
“I think what you realize is that when you’re really happy, it doesn’t matter what strangers think about you. All that matters to you is what’s real, and what you love, and who you love,” she said at the time.
