Nawabpur thrives as mango hub

Fertile land, abundant water generate record production

MULTAN:

Nawabpur village is regarded as one of the most exceptional mango-producing areas in Multan district.

The village has earned a reputation for producing some of the finest mango varieties, especially the highly demanded white Chaunsa.

The village lies at the heart of the mango belt, where orchard farming is deeply rooted in tradition and expertise. Its exceptional productivity is largely due to year-round water availability, fertile soil, and other favourable natural conditions. Farmers believe the combination of fresh underground water and rich land plays a vital role in producing export-quality mangoes supplied both locally and internationally.

During the mango season, Nawabpur turns into a bustling economic centre. Around 400 to 500 trucks of mangoes are dispatched daily to different parts of the country, creating a strong seasonal boost in trade and employment. The surge in activity supports several sectors, including wooden crate manufacturing, packing industries, labour work, and allied businesses.

Local farmers highlight the village's reputation for producing some of the finest mangoes. Laique Sheikhana notes that Nawabpur consistently meets both domestic demand and international gifting markets, while Malik Manzoor Kalro describes it as a blessed land producing top-quality fruit in the region.

Beyond agriculture, Nawabpur is also known for its scenic orchards, clean environment, and improved farm infrastructure, including paved roads and modern farmhouses. The village has also become a point of attraction for visitors interested in mango farming and rural life.

Overall, Nawabpur stands as a thriving agricultural ecosystem where nature, economy, and tradition come together, making it one of the most important mango-producing regions of Multan.
