CBS has officially greenlit Eternally Yours, a companion series to Ghosts, following an 11-year development journey.

Created by Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, the upcoming vampire comedy is set to premiere during the 2026–2027 network television season. The series follows a long-time vampire couple navigating their marriage in modern-day Seattle, blending supernatural elements with relationship-driven humour.

According to Deadline, the project was first conceived in 2015, when Port and Wiseman developed the pilot alongside producers Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum. Despite early interest from CBS Studios, the show was not picked up for the 2016–2017 season, as the network prioritised multi-camera comedies at the time.

The script remained in development for years, including a 2019 table read featured on the Dead Pilots Society podcast. The recording gained attention and was later used as a reference point when pitching the series again. However, attempts to rework the project as an animated series were unsuccessful, partly due to competition from other vampire comedies.

Momentum returned in 2023 when CBS Entertainment leadership revisited the project, leading to a development room and eventual pilot order in 2025. The show was finally granted a full series order in 2026.

The success of Ghosts, which debuted in 2021, is widely seen as a key factor in reviving interest in Eternally Yours. With a similar tone combining humour and emotional storytelling, the new series is expected to expand CBS’ slate of character-driven comedies.

After more than a decade in development, the project’s creators have described its journey as one of persistence, with the series ultimately finding its place in a changing television landscape.
