Patrick Muldoon’s cause of death has been officially revealed following his sudden passing on April 19, 2026. The details come from medical records reviewed by PEOPLE.
The Melrose Place and Days of Our Lives actor died at the age of 57 from a myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack. The death certificate also lists pulmonary embolism and hereditary coagulopathy as underlying conditions contributing to his death. Coagulopathy is a genetic disorder that affects the body’s ability to form blood clots, while a pulmonary embolism involves a blockage in a lung artery caused by a blood clot.
According to the official document, Muldoon was cremated on April 28, 2026. His occupation was listed as actor and producer.
His manager had previously confirmed his death in a statement, noting that he died suddenly. The passing came shortly after he shared a social media post expressing excitement about the upcoming crime thriller Kockroach, in which he served as an executive producer.
Muldoon was best known for playing Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives from 1992 to 1995, later reprising the role in 2011. He also portrayed Richard Hart on Melrose Place and appeared in projects such as Starship Troopers and Saved by the Bell.
