ABC has officially renewed both Scrubs and Shifting Gears, while deciding not to move forward with the comedy pilot Do You Want Kids?, according to a report by Variety.

The Scrubs revival will return for a second season, marking the show’s 11th season overall. The series made a comeback after a 16-year hiatus, bringing back original stars including Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke and Donald Faison, alongside several returning cast members in recurring roles. According to Disney, the revival’s premiere episode reached approximately 11 million viewers across platforms within its first 35 days.

Meanwhile, Shifting Gears has been renewed for a third season after its second season aired between October 2025 and February 2026. The sitcom stars Tim Allen and Kat Dennings, and follows a classic car shop owner whose life changes when his daughter and her children move in.

In contrast, ABC has opted not to proceed with Do You Want Kids?, a comedy pilot co-created by Rachel Bloom and Dan Gregor. The project, which starred Bloom and Rory Scovel, explored alternate life paths of a married couple based on the decision to have children.

The renewals signal ABC’s continued investment in its existing primetime lineup as it prepares for the 2026–2027 broadcast season. Several other projects remain under consideration, including additional pilots and midseason entries.

The latest programming decisions highlight the network’s focus on established series while refining its upcoming slate.
