'One Night Only' trailer reveals rom-com 'Purge' starring Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro
The first trailer for One Night Only has been released, offering a look at a romantic comedy built around an unconventional premise.
Directed by Will Gluck, the film stars Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro as two strangers navigating a single night where specific social rules are temporarily lifted.
According to the official synopsis, the story follows “two love-starved strangers who crash into each other in an ever-so-slightly fictionalised New York City on the one night of the year when single people are allowed to have sex.” The concept introduces a structured setting that shapes the characters’ interactions throughout the film.
Turner plays Owen, recently out of a relationship, while Barbaro portrays Allie, described as a hopeful romantic. The narrative centres on their initial connection and the complications that arise as they attempt to reconnect across the city.
The synopsis states, “Recently dumped Owen and hopeful romantic Allie might be the only two singles in the city looking for more than just a quick encounter.”
The story unfolds over the course of one evening, with various obstacles keeping the pair apart, “They both feel a spark when they meet, but a series of missteps and side quests complicate their night, keeping them apart,” the synopsis continues.
“As they each race toward and away from each other across the city, they just might discover that the one thing they want most is closer than they think.”
The film is written, directed and produced by Gluck, based on a script by Travis Braun. It also features a supporting cast including Maya Hawke, Julia Fox, King Princess, Ziwe, Ben Marshall, Molly Ringwald and LeVar Burton.
One Night Only is scheduled for release in cinemas on August 7.
