Billie Eilish gushes over Nancy Ajram, credits Arabic music as major influence in new interview

Billie Eilish has once again expressed her admiration for Lebanese pop star Nancy Ajram, with the singer later responding publicly with a message of appreciation.
In a recent interview with Elle, the ten-time Grammy-winning artist spoke about her long-standing connection to Arabic music.
“I have always been really inspired by Arabic singers — my dad and I have bonded over our love for Arabic music. Like, I freaking love Nancy Ajram. She’s one of my favorite singers,” she said.
Ajram, a leading figure in Arabic pop known for songs such as “Akhasmak Ah,” “Fi Hagat,” and “Badna Nwallea El Jaw,” responded on X following the interview. “Her talent and authenticity inspire so many around the world including me.” she wrote.

Eilish has previously highlighted Ajram’s work. In a 2020 episode of her radio programme “Me & Dad,” she said, “I’m going to cheer myself up by playing a very special song to me that’s in Arabic. This is Nancy Ajram whom I love. I love this song and I love another song she made called ‘Inta Eyh.’”
Ajram rose to prominence in the early 2000s after beginning her career as a teenager in the 1990s, helping define modern Arabic pop through multiple successful releases.
She is set to embark on a United States tour in May, with stops including Detroit and Los Angeles.
Eilish, who gained recognition with her debut single “Ocean Eyes” in 2015, achieved global success with her 2019 album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, earning several Grammy Awards.
She is now preparing to release a film version of her tour, Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D), co-directed with James Cameron.
