Actor Barry Keoghan has addressed ongoing speculation surrounding his breakup with singer Sabrina Carpenter, pushing back against claims that he was unfaithful during their relationship.

Speaking on the podcast Friend’s Keep Secrets, Keoghan said he has been avoiding social media due to what he described as an “amplified” narrative following their split in December 2024. The pair had dated for around a year before ending their relationship, after which online speculation about alleged cheating began circulating widely among fans.

The actor also highlighted the personal toll of the backlash, revealing that he has faced abusive comments online, including attacks related to his family background and personal losses. He described some of the content circulating on platforms like TikTok as “vile” and said the situation has gone beyond fair criticism.

Keoghan emphasised that he is not seeking sympathy, but rather asking for an end to what he sees as harmful assumptions and harassment. He also noted that public figures are often subjected to intensified scrutiny, where unverified claims can quickly become widely accepted narratives.

Following the breakup, Keoghan had previously urged online users to stop targeting him and his family, saying the level of harassment had begun affecting both his personal life and professional work.

The actor’s latest comments mark his most direct response yet to the ongoing speculation surrounding his relationship with Carpenter.
