Gulf war: UK, Canada, Egypt urge dialogue
Foreign ministers of the United Kingdom, Canada and Egypt on Monday discussed the latest developments in the regional situation and emphasised the importance of dialogue and diplomacy for peace during separate telephone calls with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), FM Dar spoke with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, in the evening to exchange views on recent regional developments.
"The Egyptian foreign minister appreciated Dar's efforts and Pakistan's continued role in advancing dialogue and diplomatic engagement. He also apprised Dar of his outreach with various regional and international counterparts in this regard," the statement said.
It added that both sides highlighted the importance of sustained engagement to support peace and stability in the region and beyond.
Dar also spoke with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper earlier in the evening, during which they discussed recent developments in the region.
"The UK foreign secretary appreciated Pakistan's facilitation and continued efforts to promote dialogue and diplomacy," read the statement.
It further added that both sides underscored the importance of sustained engagement for peace and stability in the region and beyond, and agreed to remain in contact.
According to the ministry, Dar also held a call with Canadian FM Anita Anand, and both discussed the latest regional developments and ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability.
"FM Dar reiterated Pakistan's continued commitment to dialogue and diplomacy," it added.
The ministry further said that the two leaders reviewed bilateral relations.
