Cole Sprouse has officially joined the cast of Hot Year, an upcoming indie coming-of-age revenge thriller directed by Roxy Sophie Sorkin.
He will star alongside Kathryn Newton and Storm Reid, expanding the ensemble for the highly anticipated project.
The film also features Dove Cameron, J. Smith-Cameron and Owen Painter. Production is scheduled to begin in Oklahoma in May, according to reports from Deadline.
Set in a small Pacific Northwest town during an intense heatwave, Hot Year follows two childhood best friends whose relationship is tested after a revenge plan targeting an ex-boyfriend spirals into a violent and irreversible situation. The story unfolds over the course of a single night, exploring themes of trauma, loyalty and identity as the characters confront the consequences of their actions.
The film is produced by Wagner Entertainment and Killer Films, alongside Entertainment 360 and Hype Studios. Kathryn Newton is also attached as an executive producer, reflecting her expanded role in the project’s development.
Sprouse’s casting comes amid a busy period in his career, following multiple independent film projects completed in 2025. He is also set to appear in several upcoming features, further strengthening his presence in the indie film space.
Hot Year adds to a growing slate of character-driven thrillers gaining attention within the independent film industry, with its ensemble cast and high-stakes narrative expected to draw significant interest upon release.
