House of the Dragon season 3 has officially been scheduled to premiere on June 21, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET on HBO, with simultaneous streaming available on HBO Max.
The upcoming season will consist of eight episodes, airing weekly until its finale on August 9. The announcement confirms earlier reports that the new instalment would arrive in June, while also setting a precise release date for fans of the Game of Thrones prequel.
Alongside the release date, HBO has unveiled a new teaser trailer, offering a glimpse into the escalating conflict within House Targaryen. The series, based on Fire & Blood by George R. R. Martin, chronicles the Targaryen civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons, set nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
Season 3 continues to feature a large ensemble cast, including Matt Smith, Emma D'Arcy, and Olivia Cooke, among others, as the battle for the Iron Throne intensifies. The new teaser suggests that the stakes are higher than ever, with war, betrayal and political intrigue driving the narrative forward.
The series is co-created by Ryan Condal and Martin, with Condal serving as showrunner. It remains a central part of HBO’s expanding Game of Thrones universe, which also includes additional spin-offs currently in development.
With anticipation building, season 3 is expected to continue the franchise’s strong global viewership, as audiences follow the increasingly brutal struggle for power in Westeros.
