QUETTA:

Police have successfully recovered an abducted child and arrested a woman allegedly involved in his kidnapping, after the captors demanded a $60,000 ransom for his release.

According to the Serious Crime Investigation (SCI) wing, a man named Mohibullah lodged a report at Khaliq Shaheed police station on April 16, stating that unidentified persons had abducted his son, Muzamil Ahmad.

The kidnappers later contacted him via WhatsApp, demanding $60,000 and threatening severe consequences if the ransom was not paid.

Police registered a case and transferred the investigation to the SCI wing. Under the supervision of SSP Serious Crime Investigation Malik Asghar, a special team was constituted led by SP Operations Abdul Sattar Achakzai and SP Investigation Ali Raza. The team included DSP Admin Iftikhar Rashid, SHO Nizamul Haq, Inspector Asad Mandokhail, Inspector Nazir Ahmed, and Sub-Inspector Samiullah.

Using modern technology, including call data records (CDR), data analysis, and WhatsApp location tracing, the team successfully traced the suspects within a short span of time.

On the intervening night of Saturday, police raided a house in Alizai Town on Eastern Bypass, where the abducted child, Muzamil Ahmed, was found hidden under a bed in a locked room. The child was recovered unharmed, and a woman identified as Muzalifa was arrested for her alleged involvement in the kidnapping. Raids are underway to apprehend other suspects still at large.
