Japanese VTuber agency Rimiresu has terminated two of its affiliated streamers, Kanade Ruka and BakuBaku, after confirming they were in a romantic relationship, citing a breach of internal rules.
The agency announced on April 20, 2026, that both talents had violated company policies, specifically a prohibition on romantic relationships within the organisation.
Following confirmation of the relationship, Rimiresu stated it had ended their contracts with immediate effect and removed them from its roster.
In its official notice, the company said the situation had caused “anxiety” among fans and affected trust within its community. It added that it apologised to supporters and other affiliated streamers impacted by the development.
The agency also confirmed that the activities of both individuals would cease immediately, with their accounts suspended or removed as part of the termination process.
Kanade Ruka addressed the situation in a follow-up statement, saying, “Regarding this matter, it is entirely due to my own shortcomings, and the responsibility lies with me.”
The streamer added, “There is absolutely no fault on the part of Rimiresu!-sama.” Kanade further stated that the agency had provided support “with utmost courtesy” during the process and reiterated that “romantic relationships within the agency are prohibited.”
In a separate farewell message, Kanade thanked fans for their support and apologised for any concern caused during their time as a VTuber.
The incident has gained attention among VTuber audiences, with discussion focusing on agency policies governing personal relationships.
Rimiresu has asked fans not to harass or defame the individuals involved following the announcement. The agency is part of Japan’s V-Liver scene and is connected to the IRIAM streaming platform.
