Foreigner breaches airport security
A major security lapse was reported at the New Islamabad International Airport, where a Chinese national managed to breach security and reach the international departure briefing area using a fake ticket.
Sources said that International flight operations, including departures to China, were ongoing when the individual, identified as Meng Chi, allegedly entered the restricted area along with his family by presenting a counterfeit China Southern Airlines ticket, reportedly due to negligence by Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel.
They added that the man's family was travelling on flight CZ-8070. However, ASF staff reportedly failed to verify his passport and allowed him entry into the international departure lounge solely on the basis of the ticket.
The breach was discovered when the individual attempted to exit after seeing off his family.
ASF personnel at the exit gate stopped him for checking, which revealed that he had gained access through fraudulent means.
He was subsequently taken into custody, shifted to the control room for initial processing, and later handed over to airport police for further investigation.
Officials described the incident as a serious security breach, warning that unauthorised access to sensitive airport areas could pose significant risks. An inquiry into the incident has been initiated.
