Sydney Sweeney has reportedly reacted to the removal of her cameo from The Devil Wears Prada 2 ahead of the film’s upcoming release.
The sequel is scheduled to arrive in cinemas in the United States on May 1 and features returning cast members alongside new additions.
According to a source, Sweeney was “upset” following the decision to cut her appearance from the film.
They claimed the situation caused “major embarrassment” for the actor and described the move as “a gigantic slap in the face to Sydney.” The source added that she has “got every right to be furious at the way she’s been treated.”
The same source said the experience was “a huge waste of her time” and suggested that some within the industry may have contributed to the situation.
They stated that a “large contingent of Hollywood … are out to cause her trouble” and “trip her up whenever they can,” adding that people close to her attribute this to “plain old-fashioned jealousy.”
Despite the reported reaction, the source indicated that Sweeney is attempting to move forward. “But it’s obviously upset her,” they said, noting that she is “trying to suck it up and move forward.”
The Devil Wears Prada 2 will see the return of key cast members from the original 2006 film, including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.
The sequel also introduces new cast members such as Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu and Kenneth Branagh.
Details surrounding the decision to remove Sweeney’s cameo have not been officially confirmed.
