Family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez speaks out as D4vd faces murder charges

"All we want is justice," her parents said as they remembered Celeste as a joyful and loving daughter

The family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez is speaking out following the arrest and charging of musician D4vd in connection with her death, saying they are focused on seeking justice.

According to People, the 14-year-old’s parents, Jesus Rivas and Mercedes Martinez, shared an emotional statement after authorities charged the singer, whose real name is David Burke, with first-degree murder.

“All we want is justice,” the family said, expressing gratitude to law enforcement and their community for support during what they described as an incredibly painful time.

They remembered Celeste as a joyful and loving daughter who enjoyed spending time with family, including movie nights, and had a passion for singing and dancing.

Prosecutors allege that D4vd is responsible for Celeste’s death, with charges including first-degree murder and special circumstances such as lying in wait, murder of a witness and financial gain, allegations that could carry a life sentence or even the death penalty if he is convicted.

Authorities say Celeste’s remains were discovered in September 2025 inside a Tesla registered to the singer after the vehicle was impounded in Los Angeles.

D4vd has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his legal team has said they will “vigorously defend” his innocence.

The case has drawn widespread attention due to the severity of the allegations and the young age of the victim. A preliminary hearing is scheduled as the legal process moves forward.

Despite the ongoing proceedings, Celeste’s family has made clear their priority remains honoring her memory and ensuring accountability through the justice system.
