ECP stays Senate by-election in K-P

The Senate by-election in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has been temporarily halted after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued a stay order. According to official sources on Tuesday, the petition to stop the by-election was filed by Pakistan Muslim-N MPA Jalal Khan.

The Election Commission heard the case and subsequently granted a stay, suspending the election process. The petitioner's lawyer said that Murad Saeed had not been administered oath of the Senate seat adding constitutional ambiguities regarding the seat be resolved before proceeding with the election.
