KARACHI:

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah chaired a high-level meeting to review progress on major projects under the Federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2025–26 and finalised the strategy for PSDP 2026–27, with a strong focus on road infrastructure, regional connectivity, and economic growth.

Participants of the meeting were informed that five major road projects—worth over Rs140.9 billion—are currently underway with joint federal and provincial funding.

Expansion of 36km Sindh Coastal Highway; rehabilitation of 150km Rohri–Guddu Barrage Road; dualisation of 31.4km Tando Allahyar–Tando Adam Road; dualisation of 135km Mehran Highway (Nawabshah–Ranipur); and improvement of the 221km Sanghar–Rohri (N-5) Road are the key project, currently under way in the province.

Significant progress has been made on several schemes, while others remain in tendering or early stages.

So far, Rs17.94 billion has been released in the current fiscal year, with expenditures steadily increasing.

The chief minister directed all departments to accelerate work by removing bottlenecks such as relocation of utility lines, electric poles, and encroachments. He emphasised that delays due to administrative or technical issues would not be tolerated and called for improved coordination among departments.

He also specifically instructed authorities to expedite the relocation of gas pipelines, power infrastructure, and water channels that are hindering project completion. Stressing quality, he said there should be no compromise on construction standards, adding that these roads are vital economic arteries and must be completed on time.
