The Artillery Maidan police have registered a murder case after a man was shot dead in front of his wife by unidentified assailants on Sharea Faisal.
The victim, 36-year-old Dr. Sarang, was targeted on Monday night while returning home with his wife in a rickshaw.
The FIR has been registered on the complaint of victim's brother Sarmad Hussain.
In his statement, the complainant said he is a resident of Abid Town, Badin, and works in the education sector. He received the news of his brother's killing from a neighbour and immediately traveled to Karachi, where he met the victim's wife, Rameena, to gather details.
She told police that on April 20, Dr. Sarang had come to meet her at her parents' home in the Cantonment area after finishing duty at a private hospital. After dinner, the couple hired a rickshaw from Dr. Daud Pota Road to return to their residence.
At around 10:55pm, near the Mehran Hotel underpass, a white car intercepted their rickshaw. A man seated in the back of the car, wearing a camel-brown shalwar kameez, stepped out, pulled out a pistol, and ordered Dr Sarang to get down before opening fire. The attackers then fled the scene.
The victim's wife remained unharmed. She informed her brother, Muhammad Adil, and rushed Dr Sarang to Jinnah Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
