Katy Perry has sparked viral attention after putting a modern twist on a centuries-old tradition during her visit to Rome.

The pop star was filmed at the iconic Trevi Fountain, where tourists typically toss coins into the water for good luck. Instead, Perry jokingly dipped her credit card into the fountain, creating a moment that quickly spread across social media.

In the clip, Perry referenced her own lyrics, saying she doesn’t “mess with change,” before adding that she still wanted to take part in the ritual. “I feel like I need to put something in the Trevi Fountain for good luck,” she said before briefly submerging the card and pulling it back out.

Perry’s spontaneous gesture divided opinion online, with some fans praising her creativity while others questioned whether it was appropriate at one of Italy’s most historic landmarks.

The moment comes as the singer continues her travels in Italy following a recent appearance at Coachella and a private performance in Rome.

The pop star is also facing sexual assault allegations made by Ruby Rose. Allegedly, the assaul took place at a Melbourne nightclub in 2010. Authorities in Australia have confirmed an investigation into the claims, while Perry has strongly denied the allegations, calling them “categorically false.”
