Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that his portrayal of Deadpool will continue in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but no longer as the central focus of standalone films.

In a recent interview with Sunday Today, Reynolds revealed he has already written ideas for the character’s return but emphasized a shift in direction. He stated that Deadpool works best as a supporting figure rather than leading his own story, suggesting that a traditional Deadpool 4 is unlikely.

Reynolds explained that the character thrives in group dynamics, particularly alongside teams like the Avengers or X-Men, while still maintaining his outsider identity. According to the actor, Deadpool’s narrative depends on his inability to fully belong, making his role more effective when interacting with other heroes rather than anchoring a solo storyline.

Speculation has circulated about Deadpool appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, though Reynolds has previously downplayed these rumors. He has also noted that integrating Deadpool too fully into major superhero teams could undermine the character’s core appeal and narrative arc.

The character officially entered the MCU with Deadpool & Wolverine, co-starring Hugh Jackman. The film became a major commercial success, grossing over $1.3 billion worldwide and setting a new benchmark as the highest-grossing R-rated movie.

The first two Deadpool films, released in 2016 and 2018, also performed strongly at the global box office. While Reynolds has not ruled out future appearances, his latest comments signal a creative evolution for the character within Marvel’s expanding cinematic universe.
