Kit Connor and Cailee Spaeny join Alex Garland's 'Elden Ring' adaptation at A24
Kit Connor leads A24's 2028 'Elden Ring' film from Alex Garland, with Ben Whishaw and an ensemble cast

A24's forthcoming feature adaptation of the hit video game Elden Ring has officially locked in its ensemble cast, with Kit Connor, best known for Heartstopper, confirmed to star.
The film, directed and written by Alex Garland of Ex Machina and Civil War fame, is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 3, 2028, and will be filmed for IMAX.
Connor joins a prestigious lineup that includes Ben Whishaw from Skyfall, Cailee Spaeny of Alien: Romulus, Tom Burke who starred in Furiosa, and Nick Offerman known for The Last of Us. The extensive cast also features Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, John Hodgkinson, Jefferson Hall, Emma Laird, and Peter Serafinowicz.
Production is currently underway in the U.K., with the budget reportedly exceeding $100 million, marking A24's most ambitious project to date. Garland, a self-proclaimed fan of the game, reportedly flew to Japan to personally pitch his vision to creator Hidetaka Miyazaki. The film is produced by Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, and Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin, who co-wrote the game's mythology.
The original Elden Ring, released in 2022, is an action RPG set in the dark fantasy realm known as the "Lands Between." The game follows a Tarnished warrior on a quest to restore the shattered Elden Ring. Having sold over 30 million copies and won numerous Game of the Year awards, the adaptation is one of the most anticipated video game films in development. While character details remain under wraps, the massive scale of the production suggests a faithful translation of the game's vast, challenging world to the big screen.
