Josh Hutcherson reveals backlash after saying he’s ‘definitely not a Swiftie’
Josh Hutcherson said he faced online backlash after admitting Taylor Swift’s music is not his personal taste

Josh Hutcherson is opening up about the online backlash he received after casually saying he was “definitely not a Swiftie.”
In a new interview with GQ Magazine, the actor recalled how the comment unexpectedly sparked criticism online, despite insisting it was never meant as an attack on Taylor Swift.
“I got some heat because I did a photo shoot with Jordan, and Jordan asked me something about being a Taylor Swift fan, and I was like, ‘Oh no, I’m definitely not a Swiftie,’” Hutcherson said.
He explained that he simply meant Swift’s music is not his personal taste, adding that the internet quickly escalated the moment.
“All of a sudden it garnered this, ‘F**k him! He’s a monster! Destroy him! He’s short! He hates her because he’s short!’”
Hutcherson, who has largely stayed offline in recent years, said the reaction reminded him why he avoids social media culture.
“I think she’s great. Her music is not my kind of music. That is why I don’t want to be online,” he said.
The actor’s comments have since gone viral, with fans debating whether celebrities should be expected to publicly support every major pop star.
