Brad Pitt claims Angelina Jolie is obstructing his 'quiet enjoyment' of France home
Brad Pitt has accused Angelina Jolie of delaying ongoing legal proceedings related to their jointly owned French winery, as disputes between the former couple continue despite their divorce being finalised more than a year ago.
The disagreement centres on Château Miraval, a property valued at $164 million, where both parties remain in conflict over ownership and business operations. Pitt alleges that Jolie requested a nine-month delay to the trial, pushing proceedings to late 2027.
According to a representative for Pitt, the delay is linked to changes in witness availability. "One key witness, Ms. Jolie's former business manager, Terry Bird, has unfortunately passed away," Pitt's rep stated.
"Plaintiffs understand that another potential key witness, Ms. Jolie's transactional lawyer, Laurent Schummer, is likely too ill to testify. This is yet another reason that a nine-month delay of the trial date would prejudice the Plaintiffs."
Pitt has also claimed that the dispute has affected his ability to enjoy the property, stating he has been "deprived of the quiet enjoyment of his home in France". The legal conflict follows Jolie’s sale of her stake in the winery to the Stoli Group, which Pitt alleges breached their prior agreement.
Jolie has disputed these claims, arguing that there is "no evidence anywhere" that Pitt’s ability to use the château "has been impacted by this case one iota."
In response, Pitt’s representatives said, "The wine business associated with the French château has also suffered, as the business has been stymied by the dispute between the château’s indirect shareholders and by Stoli’s repeated efforts to interfere with, and gain control of, the château."
The statement concluded: "This dispute should be resolved as soon as possible so that all parties—including Mr. Pitt—can move on with their lives."
